Custer Park Illinois 1955 Or 1956 Sighting
Date: Approximately 1955 or 1956
Time: Daytime sighting.
Approximately 1955 or 1956, and this one is very special to me for
reasons that I am sure you will understand. I was raised in Aurora
Illinois, about 40 miles west of Chicago. My grandmother lived by
herself in a farm house on the edge of a very small town called Custer
Park. When I was little, I used to spend weekends with her once in
a while.
One weekend in the spring or summer ( I was only about 4 or 5) I was
staying over, and as the sun was going down my grandmother was outside
getting drinking water from the pump attached to her well. She called
me outside and pointed to the west where the sun had already set but
was still lighting up the horizon. As she pointed, she said, "Look
(name removed), there goes one of God's angels".
What she was pointing at was a large bright white light moving silently
across the sky from west to east, intense like a star but bigger.
Remember, I am talking about 1955 or 1956 here, and that was before
any satellites were launched and before the quiet t jets at high altitude
we are now used to were flying so there should have been nothing that
could move silently across the sky at that time. And you know, I am
53 now, but that memory from when I was 4 or 5 will always stay as
fresh in my memory as if it happened yesterday. My grandmother and
I were always very close, and to share that moment with her was indescribably
special.
