Orange Flame Like Object Traveling Fast

Hi, we saw what we initially thought was a Chinese lantern in the sky last night over our home in Writtle, Essex. It was flame orange and seemed quite high in the sky but moved across very fast. We thought it may have been a jet/rocket on fire, (?) but having seen your site we're now very curious.
