Chinese Lantern Lands In Park At Bradford, UK
Date: September 4, 2010
Time:
Hi, just to let you know, I have just seen 3 lights just like yours. I think
they may be hot air balloons, also last night two others passed over, but seems
to do large circles covering a few miles before disappearing in the same direction
as tonight's. The general direction is the same as following the M606. and Cleckheaton
Road.
The unusual thing tonight was one of the three was in a slightly different direction
and much lower. I don't know how hot air balloons can navigate a circle, but
last nights did. They weren't aircraft of any other type as they were silent
and the light was orange. My son has just come in and it seems one has landed
in our park. It was some sort of lantern with a fire lighter? underneath. The
circles yesterday must have been the winds.
Mystery solved! I think it may be something to do with Chinese celebrations.
Orange Ball Of Light Drops 3 Small Red Objects Over Springboro,
Ohio
Date: September 4, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.
My girlfriend and I also witnesses an odd light in Springboro, Ohio on 9/4 at
approximately 9:30pm. We were traveling south on Rt. 741 from the Austin Rd.
exit. In the southeastern sky, we saw an orange colored light that at first
I thought might be a firework. It was an orange ball that had a trail of what
looked like orange sparks. (similar to what you see with some fireworks). We
saw it for approximately 2 minutes. I was moving very quickly in a circular
motion, round and round. At one point, we noticed that it seemed to release
or drop 3 very small red lights, one at a time.
Bright Orange Light Observed Over Bradley Stoke, UK
Date: August 30, 2010
Time: Evening.
Hi, I saw the light too, at first I thought it was a lantern, but I was not
convinced. It was too bright and fast moving for a lantern and I saw this over
Bradley Stoke. Also, just minutes after I saw the light, I saw a helicopter
fly by. If it was something serious, then I guess the pilot would have been
reported by now, so I am guessing it's definitely not a UFO. Cheers.
Orange Lights Above Kirkcaldy, Scotland, UK
Date: Weekend of August 27 - 29 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.
Good evening Brian, firstly I must state that I have never written anything
like this before. I was staying at my parents caravan with my father for the
weekend, this weekend, 27th-29th August. On the Saturday evening say around
2200hrs, we saw 4 or 5 orange glows in the sky.
I looked through our binoculars and could not focus on them at all. I got out
my HD solid state camcorder and I got about three seconds of footage, again
all they looked like were balls of fire. They traveled from the West to the
East as we are on the North side of the firth. At first I thought it was the
afterglow of a jet fighter, but there was no noise at all, they moved very fast
through the sky and seemed to bun out all by themselves or go through clouds.
They all had the same trajectory, and seemed to have nearly the same distance
apart as they went through the sky, they seemed to come up from a low altitude
and then level off and die, like from the ground at forty-five degree angle
and then level off. I asked around the caravan park to our neighbours and one
gentleman, said he had seen them before also. His thought was of hot air balloons,
that kind of made sense with the colour and what looks like fire inside the
balloon, but the speed was something else.
I Googled hot air balloons for speed, I couldn't find a world record, but they
as you can imagine travel at the speed of the prevailing wind. I thought I would
let you know, as I am still wondering what they were. If you have any theories
or questions give me a hit back and let me know.
6 Bright Orange Lights Over Bristol Knowle, England, UK
Date: August 29, 2010
Time: 9.44pm - 9.46pm - 10.15pm
Location of Sighting: Bristol Knowle England.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 6
Shape of Objects: Round.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: We saw 6 bright orange lights traveling
the sky making no noise and all flying the same flight path. The last one traveled
slightly off to the right of the other five.
We first saw two fly across the sky, which grabbed our attention and amazement
and wonder. Then about 2 minutes after, another 3 on the same course then approximately
30 minutes later another one.
They weren't anything we have ever seen before and match the description of
many of your descriptions I have just read about. I Googled the lights to see
if any one else had reported them and came up with your site. P.S - I'm not
a crack pot and I do not believe in fairies or little green men, but have never
seen anything like this before in my life.
Orange Burning Fire Objects Over Belfast, Northern Ireland
Date: August 29, 2010
Time: Between 9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Belfast Northern Ireland.
Number of witnesses: 3
Number of Objects: 1 and 2 previous separate nights.
Shape of Objects: Hard to describe, fire formation.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: Just objects like a burning fire, orange
in color moving across the sky then fading into the distance. Not commonly behaving
like a plane or aircraft. The first time there were 2 and they almost met in
the sky and then vanished. The second time (tonight) there was one alone and
seemed to travel off then vanish. They looked like fire balls that's the only
way I can describe them.

minute. It was dark at the time with patchy cloud cover and there was no discernable

Bright Fireball Stops Over Whitewater Lake, Ontario
Date: July 30, 2010
Time: Approx: 12:00 a.m. (Midnight)
We were having a family reunion and seen the same thing, it was wild. It came
across Whitewater Lake and settled right over us. There was 50 of us there,
it was around 12:00am on the night of Friday July 30, 2010. It was a bright
fire ball, but when it settled over us and stopped it was a sphere and it had
a burning flame in the inside of it. We were in awe no one even thought about
a camera. Weird.
Slow Burning Orange Ball Over Pittsboro, Indiana
Date: August 13, 2010
Time: 12:00 a.m. (around midnight)
I just completed my Google search to see if any one else saw what I saw.
Last night around 12 midnight I saw this slow burning orange ball. It kind of
looked like a slow moving plane with a fire beneath it. I thought it was a balloon
or maybe one of those marine flares on a parachute, but it just kept moving
slowly across the sky. It really looked like a campfire moving in the air, then
like you said, it looked like it just burned out slowly as it was moving away.
Any one else see it ? PS - I was looking east about one o'clock direction wise
in the sky.
Orange Lights Seen Over Elton Cheshire, UK
Date: August 14, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:50 p.m.
Hello Brian, having read a report on your website of orange lights over Elton,
Cheshire. I would like you to know of my sighting. On Saturday evening (14/08/10)
at about 23:50 hrs I was standing at my backdoor having a cigarette (The legal
kind) and being a clear night I was looking up at the stars when I saw what
I thought was an aircraft.
Elton being in close proximity to Liverpool and Manchester airports we see a
fair amount of air traffic over the village. The light was orange in colour
travelling from roughly the direction of Liverpool, heading toward Chester.
The light seemed too big for an aircraft and there was no evidence of flashing
lights (Navigation lights).
As it disappeared behind the roofline, I walked up the side of the house to
the front to track its course. As it was just coming over the roofline I noticed
another three orange lights ahead of it and another behind it, all heading in
the same direction and the distance between each was roughly equal. I would
say that they were at the same height as a light aircraft might operate, but
I've never seen five aircraft in a line unless at some kind of air show/display
which do not usually take place at almost midnight (do they). One other thing
struck me as odd, there was no sound at all, no engines or rotors. Hope this
helps.
36 Glowing Balls Of Fire Over Barnet, North London, UK
Date: August 1, 2010
Time: 11:00 p.m. - 11.35 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Barnet North London.
Number of witnesses: 4
Number of Objects: 36
Shape of Objects: Fat cigar/balls.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: Hi, my partner and I are in a state of awe,
On Saturday 1st August we saw 36 bright orange UFOs pass over, 1 per minute,
over approx: 30 minutes, (from 11pm to 11.30 pm).
They were evenly spaced, very high (5-10,000 ft?), coming from the East flying
North, then all of them turned, one after the other at exactly the same spot
and started to climb up as though onto a flight path, all flying in same trajectory
towards southeast again. They seemed purposeful and coordinated nothing at all
like the paper lanterns people usually suggest as an answer
We used binoculars which were inadequate to catch the full description, but
my partner (and his brother and mother who we had called in London) could see
rows of lights along what they both saw as fat cigar shapes.
They looked like glowing balls of fire to me. The strange thing is we have felt
very peaceful and full of energy for a few days now. But 36 in one viewing was
something we shall treasure!
Large Bright Orange Light Over Perth, Scotland UK
Date: August 15, 2010
Time: 10:19 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Perth Scotland UK.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Round.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was letting the dogs out to the garden
when we saw this big bright orange light that looked like a ball of fire moving
about the same speed as maybe a helicopter. We watched it for roughly 4 to 5
minutes. It was heading in the north direction and then it just disappeared.
It defiantly was not an aircraft as there was no noise. It was very strange.
It looked like it was a fire on the move!
Orange Lights Over Longcommon Parkway In Elgin's Providence
Subdivision, Illinois
Date: August 14, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.
Saturday night (August 14, 2010) about 9:30 or so, my son and I were on my driveway
on Longcommon Parkway in Elgin's Providence subdivision when I spotted an orange
light in the sky traveling from the southwest, and moving northeast. As the
first one faded out, a second one came into view, then it faded, and another
one behind it.
He thought it looked like fire as if someone was flying a hot air balloon. I
didn't think so as flying hot air balloons at night would be suicidal. Maybe
there was more of them and we only caught the last 3? It did appear to be flickering
like a flame though, He took some pictures with his phone camera. Any speculation
as to what we may have seen? Thanks.
Additional Information:
Found this website, this may explain what it was we saw. http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/products/sky-lanterns/white-traditional-sky-lanterns/
Orange Light Seen Over Plymouth, UK
Date: July 26, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:30 p.m.
We have just seen an orange light over house in Plymouth. Upon reading the report
filed at the end of June it seems an exact description of what we say but as
it diminished another appeared from over the sound and follow the exact same
path. I am usually a skeptic, but I can't explain it. Did anyone else see them?
I feel like I'm going mad! Many thanks.
15 Orange Balls Over Southminster Essex, UK
Date: July 24, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:55 p.m.
Hi, my name is (name removed) and I live in Southminster, Essex. At approx:
9.55pm on Saturday evening (24th July), I was standing at my back door and saw
about 15 orange balls sailing across the sky, one after the other. I have never
seen anything like this before and nobody I have asked saw them. Therefore I
started to research online and came across your site. I expect they were the
same objects that the man who was travelling from Grays to Southend saw whilst
in the car with his wife.
25-30 Orange Flying Objects Over North London, Tottenham,
UK
Date: July 24, 2010
Time: Approx; 11:30 p.m.
Hi Brian, I too saw many orange flying objects last night in north London, Tottenham
at around 11:30 till midnight. They were travelling very fast and looked like
cylinder shaped hot air balloons with a bright glowing light (Or like Chinese
lanterns). As two approached our direction they then slowed down then changed
direction then slowly disappeared into the sky.
However we (partner and friend) then watched in amazement and a procession of
these coming from the same direction in 30 seconds to a minute intervals, flowing
similar flight paths maybe 25-30 in total. We took pictures but our camera's
were probably not that good. I'm glad we're not the only one to have spotted
them.
Regards.
10-15 Orange Balls Of Light Over Hanwell, West London,
UK
Date: July 23, 2010
Time: 11:40 p.m.
I was staying in Hanwell, west London on 23 July 2010. I was asleep in the upper
room which has an uncurtained skylight window. I went to bed at 2245. At around
23:40, I was awoken (possibly by the light) and saw a bright orange light overhead
in the sky. It was much bigger than an aircraft light, at first I thought it
was some kind of firework, but it did not erupt, it just glowed brightly whilst
moving slowly.
The light moved slowly and then faded after about 20 seconds. I looked out over
north London, probably about 4-5 miles away, I could see several floating small
balls of light which would ascend and after 15-30 seconds disappear. At any
one time there were 5 or 6 balls. In total I saw 10-15 balls over about 5 minutes.
I have never seen anything like this before and consider myself a sane scientific
sort of individual being a medical doctor aged 57! Be grateful to hear from
anyone else with similar sightings or any explanation.
Glowing Orange Spheres Of Light Over High Wycombe, UK
Date: July 24, 2010
Time: 10:15 p.m.
Location of Sighting: High Wycombe, UK.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of Objects: 3
Shape of Objects: Spherical.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was laying in bed with the window and
curtains open, whilst on the internet. I then for no real reason looked out
the window and saw a glowing orange sphere, which almost looked on fire moving
across the sky.
I moved to the window and leaned out and watched it and another object of the
same description slowly move across the sky. They were low, not distorted by
some of the cloud cover. I then looked where they came from and saw another,
slightly larger object of the same description following them. I watched them
move into the distance and vanish.
Object Looked Like It Was On Fire Over Greenwood, Indiana
Date: July 12, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.
Brian Vike Note: It was not me who saw the lights, but another person who had
filed a report to me.
Hello, I just found your post in which you explained what you saw in the sky
over Greenwood, IN on July 12. My husband and I were just outside (just after
10:00pm) and saw much the same thing. It started in the west and flew past us
toward the northeast. It looked like something was on fire, but like you said
was too slow to be a meteor. Anyway we thought it was strange. Tried to get
a picture, but it was too far away to get much. Thanks.
Round Orange Glowing Balls Over Northwest Arkansas
Date: July 21, 2010
Time: 9:30 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Northwest Arkansas.
Number of witnesses: 6
Number of Objects: 5
Shape of Objects: Round orange glowing balls.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I went into my driveway and saw 5 orange
glowing balls in the eastern sky moving to the north. I yelled at my husband
and 4 children who came outside and saw the strange shapes as well. They were
in the formation of a square and then one light tailed directly in the middle
of the last two balls. They moved in a smooth way to the North that I have never
seen and faded out into the clouds after about 2 minutes. I really have never
seen anything like it.
5 Orange Balls Of Light Over Washington County, Pennsylvania
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Evening.
While attending a graduation party for my niece on July 17, 2010, seven of us
observed 5 orange-ish balls in a staggered altitude formation, outside of Pittsburgh.
My sisters house is built on a hill (can see Fort Cherry High School a mile
away) allowing us uninterrupted viewing. Objects traveled from right to left,
no blinking (Which was noted by one observer who was off duty state police officer),
moving slowly, but steady and then going transparent.
Orange Ball Of Light Over Pioneer Park Mooresville, Indiana
Date: July 4, 2010
Time: Approx: 8:45 p.m.
Brian, It is so weird. That same week on a Wednesday a co-worker of mine said
he saw what looked like an orange ball of fire in the sky on the way home from
work on the west side of Indy heading towards the east. He tried to get a picture
but it was moving too fast.
On the 4th of July my husband, parents-in-law and daughter were sitting at Pioneer
park in Mooresville and at about 8:45pm saw an orange ball in the air. We tossed
around ideas, and one of them was an air balloon. It looked like it was on fire.
But it was moving too fast. It disappeared heading towards Indy again, and reappeared
around 9:15 heading in the same direction. I have no idea what that could have
been, but it sure did not look like an air balloon the second time around. Thanks.
16 Bright Orange Lights Over Long Island, New York
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: 11:30 p.m.
I have also seen the bright lights, but over Long Island, New York on July 17th
at 11:30 pm. My Aunt and I were driving home and pulled over when we saw approximately
16 bright orange lights all moving slowly, but in complete unison eastward across
the sky. They were completely silent and after about a minute and a half they
just disappeared, right before our eyes and sporadically.
It became invisible, because we could see the stars again. These were not flares,
balloons or any kind of plane that is of this Earth. It seemed by the way the
lights went so perfectly together across the sky that this was most likely a
single object, and if it was it was the size of approximately 2 football fields.
If they were single objects, they were amazingly accurate and flying in sync.
This 'sighting' blew my mind and my whole belief system, to say the least! I
don't know how to find out if anyone else saw them, do you have any suggestions?
I wouldn't even know who to report this to or tell my story to or find out how
many others witnessed this.
Ball Of Fire Orange Light Over Norridge, Illinois
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Around midnight.
Hello, on July 17, 2010 around midnight my finance, her mother, her cousin and
myself all witnessed a ball of fire or orange light in the sky. We were on our
back porch in Norridge, IL. My finance saw it first and had us all look at it.
It was to the west and traveled east towards us. It then changed and went Northwest
traveling away from us, and fading into the distance. I tried to get a picture
on my phone, but could not get it to pick it up. I got a better camera and the
object disappears as soon as the flash went off. Thank you.
Lights In The Sky Over Liberty Township, Ohio
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.
Hi Brian, My son, his girlfriend and I watched the lights on Saturday night
about 10:00 p.m. They looked to be north of us and we live in Liberty Township.
At first I thought it was a meteor shower, but they pretty much remained stationary,
but would disappear and then appear one at a time. I looked at the news the
next day and there were articles about the Dayton air show and the hot air balloon
show. I don't know what it was, but it was pretty terrific.
Two Balls Of Fire Over Indianapolis, Indiana
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:30 p.m.
On Saturday (~ 10:30pm), July 17th, my son and I witnessed two balls of fire
in the sky over Central Indiana (Indianapolis). We looked in the local newspapers
and watched the news thinking that we would see or hear an explanation but did
not. I searched the internet and found your site. Did you receive any information
regarding your posting? I am perplexed and would love to know what we saw. Thanks.
5 Orange Objects Over Camelon Falkirk, UK
Date: July 17 and 18th, 2010
Time: Approx: 00:10 - 00:15
Location of Sighting: Camelon Falkirk.
Number of witnesses: 3
Number of Objects: 5
Shape of Objects: N/A.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was looking out my window watching for
my boyfriend and his friend coming in at about ten past midnight and saw my
friend walking straight past my house looking up at the sky and just at that
moment, I caught the lights out the corner of my eye. I ran out to see what
it was as it was bright orange, it is not something you see normally and couldn't
believe what I was looking at.
There were 5 orange objects flying across the sky, they looked like really bright
stars, that's the only way I can describe them and I walked half way down my
street with my friend watching them. I was pretty scared, they were going quite
slow and then they stopped for a second, then moved off again. My street was
silent as it was quite late and no cars either, but not a sound from the sky
either and I thought surely if 5 helicopters were flying in a pattern like that,
and quite low you'd have to hear something, but total silence.
Then they disappeared into the clouds, I'm still quite shocked and am hoping
there is a reasonable explanation for it, but who see's 5 helicopter's all together
like that with no sound and with bright orange lights. I only wish I'd grabbed
my mobile. I saw the same thing about a month or so ago, not sure exactly when
at about 11:30pm or just after exact same light that was in the Polmont/Brighton
area of Falkirk, but there was only one and thought that helicopter has a bright
orange light. I just thought it was a new night light thing or something and
never thought about it again until last night. How can we find out if it was
or wasn't some kind of military aircraft? Sincerely.
Orange Ball Of Fire Over North Bay, Ontario
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:15 p.m.
Hey Brian, I was actually looking for anything containing any sightings like
the one me and 2 friends encountered last night here in North Bay Ontario. It
looked like an orange light or ball of fire moving across the sky over my house.
It wasn’t moving very fast, but at a steady pace. It was really weird
there was no sound like and airplane would make, but seemed close enough that
if it was a plane or helicopter it would have definitely made some sound. This
all happened around 9:15pm and it wasn’t totally dark outside yet.
There was a very little bit of day light and the light we seen was amazingly
bright. Anyways I seen your site and thought I let you know considering a couple
in Moonbeam which is fairly close to North Bay seen something similar.
4 Lights Observed Over Springboro, Ohio
Date: July 16 and 17th, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:45 p.m.
I seen them in the Springboro, OH area, both Friday night with my fiancé
and Saturday night with my neighbor. Both nights it happened around same time,
9:45ish, and both times they were as described with the 4 lights disappearing
and coming back on and so forth. My cousin was over about a year ago and we
also seen them then but it was about 1:30 am on that sighting.
Object Looked Like It Was On Fire Over Cuyahoga Falls,
Ohio
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Around Dusk.
Hi Brian, last night around dusk my family was playing outside with the kids
and we saw the same thing. A globe that looked like it was on fire. It was traveling
from State Rd towards Newberry School and veered off to the left. We only saw
one and it was lower in the sky. Same thing, it was too fast to be a balloon
and too slow to be an airplane. There was no noise from it. We tried to chase
the path and went to Lincoln School, but it had disappeared in the clouds.
Have you heard of any other sightings?
Bright Red/Orange Ball Of Fire Over Moonbeam, Ontario
Date: July 3, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:30 p.m.
My husband and I who have a cabin in Moonbeam, Ontario were sitting outside
on our swing about 10:30 pm when suddenly we saw a bright red/orange ball of
fire that seemed like it had movement inside like fire I guess. It was steadily
moving across the sky over the water. My husband saw it first and said "what
is that?" I said it must be a firework or something. But then it was clear
to tell that it was no firework
.
It was like a ball of fire moving across the sky. So I Googled it the next day
and found your website. Anyway, just thought we should report it after we read
the other stories. Thank you !
The date was Saturday, July 3rd. It was such a strange experience really, we
both kind of sat there in awe of it really. I didn't even think of running for
my camera, because I couldn't keep my eyes off it !
What is weird is, that Moonbeam is known for UFO sightings years ago. They made
it their town icon.
7 Red Objects/Lights Seen Over Naperville, Illinois
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Evening.
My husband and I witnessed 7 red orbs flight through the sky about an hour ago.
They eventually dimmed and disappeared, we were totally floored and did a Google
and the videos we found of the red lights in Phoenix in 1997 and 2008 were almost
identical to what we saw tonight. The orbs shot out in a straight line from
behind a building one at time, eventually formed a box shape with one in the
center. The one in the center burned out first, then the others. The other 2
orbs came after the original 5. The entire event lasted maybe 10 minutes.
7 Floating Orange Colored Objects Over Naperville, Illinois
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.
Hello, my husband and I were driving home on 75th street in Naperville, IL at
about 9:30 p.m. on July 17th when we saw 6 flying/floating orange colored objects.
They were round, floating gracefully in a vertical line. They were beautiful.
As we pulled over to watch this, a 7th one was flying quickly behind and caught
up to the other 6. Then the lights started floating upward and started to diminish
one by one, almost like a candle burning out and then were gone. There were
several other cars pulled over on the side of the road to witness this strange
event.
Multiple Orange Lights Seen Over Bass Lake, Indiana
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Evening.
Hello, I was in Bass Lake, Indiana having a bonfire when we noticed a strange
bright sphere shaped object coming from the north. It then went over the lake
and vanished high in the sky. I then saw this object 6 more times traveling
from the west side of the lake. Every time it was over the lake, it would vanish
high in the sky.
Multiple Orange Lights Over Naperville, Illinois
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:10 p.m.
I am visiting Naperville this weekend, Saturday 7/17 through Sunday 7/18. I
reside in Skokie, Illinois. At approximately 10:00 p.m. on the night of 7/17,
I went outside my son's house to roll up my car windows anticipating rain. I
looked in the sky and noticed that it was a clear evening, with about 3 or 4
stars in the sky. Then all of a sudden, I saw two orange bright orbs traveling
west to east with a small amount of space between them. I ran in the house and
my son and granddaughter ran out to see why I was so excited.
After approximately 60 seconds, all three of us witnessed a 2nd set of two orange
bright orbs following the first two. After approximately another 30 seconds,
a sole orange bright orb trailed behind, totaling 5. They were traveling west
to east, but after viewing them for approximately another 60 seconds total,
4 disappeared into the skies. It wasn't like we saw all of the orbs, then only
3/4, then only 1/2, then only the end, they just disappeared all at once. Like:
"lights on, lights off." After about 30 seconds, the last disappeared.
Did anyone else report this? Does anyone have an answer to what these were?
Bright Orange Object Over Southeast London, Woolwich,
UK
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: Between 10:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Hello Brian, I've always been a believer that there is some thing out there.
My sister knows this, she has just called to say that she saw a Bright Orange
Orb last night about 10:00 - 1030pm last night.
We live in Southeast London Woolwich. I've told her to contact you. Best regards.
Brian Vike Note -The following report was sent in later by the
sister:
HI Brian, I am a bit taken back by what I saw last night.
I live in Woolwich by the river and often sit on my balcony looking up at the
night sky. I am familiar with the local flight path and know my helicopter from
domestic planes, small planes etc.
Last night has freaked me a bit, I am not alone in witnessing this as my friend
was with me. I literally said what the "hell is that" as a orange
sphere of light very bright came from nowhere and moved very quickly with purpose.
I couldn't hear anything, nothing, absolutely nothing. It was too large and
bright to be a lantern and moved to quickly and seemed to go in a direct line
of movement. I have never in my entire 33 years seen anything like this before.
It was very quick, by the time we could register it , it was gone. I wish now
I got a camera, but to be honest at the moment I was a bit stunned to think
of that.
I woke today thinking about it as I watched the sky afterwards trying to justify
what I saw, but I have no explanation. I spoke to my brother this morning who
directed me to your site ad it seems I am not the first to describe what I saw
last night.
Orange Lights Pass Over Prestwich Manchester, England
UK
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: 11:55 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Prestwich Manchester England.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of Objects: 10
Shape of Objects: Star-like, orange glow.
Brian Vike's Note: The witnessed checked the images from his
camera phone and said the objects didn't come out at all.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I have just been left stunned and shaken
after witnessing something very strange. Out of my window I can see the night
sky and from where I was sat in my apartment I noticed two bright-ish, orange
coloured, what I can only describe as orbs of light, travelling very quickly
across the night sky. I got a stronger feeling that it wasn't quite right as
I moved quickly towards the window, I was open mouthed as I watched them move
in a straight line, completely silently, across the cloudy night sky. It looked
like they were behind the clouds, but they were just as visible as they flew
past the clouds, it was very odd. I tracked them by moving to another window.
Then as I sat and contemplated it, another two slowly started to appear and
do the same thing, I got at least 6-8 of them on my camera phone, they all came
in 2's over a 5-10 minute period and mostly went in the same direction but they
all seemed to have slightly different paths. They all definitely came from the
same part of the horizon because of a reference point I had in the distance.
I am not a spook or a weirdo, I am in-fact a reasonable and intelligent person,
but this has left me feeling that something very odd just happened!
Orange Fireball Over Chicago, Illinois
Date: July 17, 2010
Time: 8:50 p.m.
Hi there, we just came back from walking a dog (7/17; 8:50PM Central) and we
saw something "moving" across the sky (east to west). At first I thought
it was just another plane, but it was extremely bright and looked like a orange
fireball, something on fire. It lasted for about two minutes, until it vanished
high in sky. It was just plain weird.
Two Orange Globes Over Chicago, Illinois
Date: July 16, 2010
Time: Evening.
Hello I was on our back yard deck no more than 20 minutes ago on this clear
July 16, night here in Chicago relaxed and looking at the few dozen stars we
can see past light pollution heavy northwest side Chicago, not too far from
O'Hare airport, which is my guess maybe seven miles away. I was looking north
easterly when overhead two orange globes moving without any blinking lights
at a few thousand feet rather in a sweeping curved motion like over the city
and then out towards our lake Michigan.
One was following the other, almost in a side by side arch, they were fast.
No need to use my name, but when I read your account from Jan. 1, 2010, I felt
you would understand my excitement, my wife said she wished she had seen it
too, but, when I tried to show her she was looking in the wrong direction. I
will confess, I do have some premonition dreams from time to time. That's it.
Sincerely.
Objects Looked Like Fire Balls Over New Lenox, Illinois
Date: July 14, 2010
Time: Evening.
I saw the same thing tonight. There were two orbs that looked like fire balls
heading south while driving on Cedar. I was thinking that maybe they were flames
from a hot air balloon or something. They flew for a couple minutes then disappeared.
Milton Ontario Orange Ball Of Fire
Date: July 9, 2010
Time: 12:00 a.m. (Midnight)
My girlfriend and I saw the exact same thing, the orange ball of fire over Milton,
Ontario. It was around the same time. They saw it around Friday, July 9, 2010
12:00am in Winnipeg Manitoba traveling from the south to north and seen it for
about 2 minutes. It got brighter the dimed out completely and we never seen
anything like it. It did look like it was on fire. It was too low to be a satellite
and there was another airplane in the air traveling from the south to the east.
Large Bright Orange Object Seen Over Long Point, Ontario
Date: July 14, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:00 - 11:30 p.m.
Wed July 14 around 11-11:30pm eastern, we were camping at Long Point Ontario.
I was out for a walk and I thought I saw a strange "orangish streetlight"
among the trees. As I walked around and cleared the trees, I saw a bright orange
ball in the sky and it was moving parallel to the beach, so it was going pretty
much east. I thought it was something burning in the atmosphere and after maybe
30-45 seconds it got smaller and disappeared. Pretty strange. When I first saw
it clearly, it was pretty big. Bigger than any planets or stars or airplanes
for that matter and it was bright orange. I was wondering if any satellites
or space junk were re entering the atmosphere?
Orange Lights Around Teesside Airport, UK
Date: July 14, 2010
Time: 10:30 p.m.
Hello Brian, just another sighting of those odd orange lights again. This time
the were heading towards Teesside airport area. They didn't seem to be going
as fast this time, also they were flashing as if they were passing through clouds,
but was no clouds that night (Wednesday 14th July).Again the time was 10.30pm
as usual.
Ball Of Fire Over Chicago, Illinois
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:45 p.m.
Saturday, July 10th at approximately 9:45pm, we witnessed something very strange
in the West/Southwest sky. It appeared to be moving toward us, more SW to NE.
We knew that is wasn’t a plane because the light was too large and it
appeared to flicker. It looked like a ball of fire. My wife suggested that it
was the flame from a hot air balloon, but we all agreed that it was too large
for that.
In addition, it burned consistently instead of intermittently as a balloon flame
would. We watched it for a few minutes, then I ran inside to get binoculars.
When I came back outside, the flame was gone. However, my wife and her sister
could see a dark shape against the night sky where that light had been.
I finally found it and zoomed in with the binoculars. It appeared to be a dark
parachute, like a military parachute. It was descending rapidly, and disappeared
behind the trees. All three of us saw it, and none of us knew what we were seeing.
I honestly believed that I would be hearing about it on the news or read other
accounts in the newspaper. I’m shocked that there is nothing in the media
about it. I can’t believe that the three of us were the only people that
saw it. By the way, we were in the (removed) and Keystone Ave. area.
Will you let me know if you’ve had others report this? Thanks.
Red Glowing Light/Object Over Tyler, Texas
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: Approx: 9:20 p.m.
I, my sister, and my two sons saw something over Tyler, TX around 9:20pm or
so on July 10, 2010. My sons and I were in the pool. I put my head back to dip
my hair into the water, when I saw a bright red glow approaching from the distance.
One of my sons saw it at the same time, and we both said "What is that?"
It was traveling at the speed of a plane, and as it approached, my younger son
and I saw something behind the glow. It was almost like a parachute shape, but
translucent looking. My son said it looked like a glare on something behind
the light.
But then that shape went away, and all we saw was a red fireball. By this point,
it looked like a plane on fire. My older son called for my sister to come outside.
We stood in shock, it looked like a plane in flight that was in flames. We were
scared because we thought it was a plane on fire and we were just waiting for
it to fall, and my mind was thinking, "How can a plane still fly if it's
on fire?", but it continued on in the distance until it could no longer
be seen.
Once it was gone, we realized that it could not have been a plane because there
was no noise. There were no other reports of this to the local news station,
and no one else I know saw it. People keep saying it was a weather balloon or
hot air balloon that we must have seen. Yeah right. I've seen both, and this
was neither. You can put this on your website, but please don't include my name
or email. Please let me know how many others have seen something like this,
and where.
Orange Fireball Objects Over North Suburbs Chicago, Illinois
Date: July 13, 2010
Time: 10:00 p.m.
Orange fireball thingy, it was moving at a medium pace from south to north and
eventually slowing, lowering, then disappearing. I watched it with my friend
after coming out of a restaurant for a good 3 minutes. We have no clue as to
what it was. I thought it was a meteor at first, but obviously lasted to long
and didn't travel in a completely straight direction. I looked on the internet
to see if anyone else reported anything and it is weird to find a similar sighting
in the same place around the same time just a few days before.
6 Orange Objects/Lights Seen Over Richfield, Ohio (Excellent
Video Footage)
Date: July 4, 2010
Time: 9:30 - 10:35 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Richfield, OH.
Number of witnesses: 6
Number of Objects: 6
Shape of Objects: Round.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: During the evening of July 4th, we were
on our driveway watching fireworks when we saw the first of eventually 6 orange
orbs which floated through the sky and above our neighborhood. With a clear
evening sky and some sunlight still present it was easy to see that the orb
was not a plane or helicopter. As others have mentioned in their accounts, the
orbs flew without any blinking lights, at a relatively low altitude and at pace
so slow it made everyone wonder what they were.
In total, we witnessed 6 orbs which seemed to fly the exact path, altitude and
speed of one another without making a sound. The orbs traveled from the southwest
and headed in the northeastern direction. We noticed that the orbs seemed to
disappear once they passed our position on the ground which was weird. You can
usually continue to see lights on a plane once it passes you and flies off into
the distance.
I find it interesting that we witnessed the same type of event that many other
people had on the same day around the same time, but in different cities, states
and regions of our country. We have some video taken of either the 4th or 5th
orb. The video was taken in night-vision mode and you can clearly see that it
was a floating illuminated ball in the sky.

Bright Red Orange Fire Ball Over Yorktown Heights, New
York
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: 2:30 a.m.
Me and my girlfriend were on the way home when we saw a bright red orange fire
ball floating through the sky. It floated for about a minute then flickered
and faded away. We then saw 2 more, each 10 minutes apart. All floated through
the air and faded away the same way. It was at 2:30am. Yorktown Heights, NY.
I see alot of other people posted similar sightings in the last week. Any idea
whets going on?
Bright Orange Spherical Objects Over Addlestone, UK
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: 11:00 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Addlestone.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 3
Shape of Objects: Round.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: We were in the front room listening to the
radio when my partner suddenly said " what the heck is that? He got up
and I followed him to the window where we witnessed two bright orange spherical
shapes drifting across the sky in silence. One seemed to disappear downwards
and the other I took a picture of it from outside the front of the house on
my cam phone. This has totally blown us both away and I am shocked that it has
not been on the news. Five minutes later, the object which had seemingly disappeared,
reappeared and drifted left and the one which I photographed ascended into the
sky only to totally disappear in front of our eyes.
Orange Ball Of Fire Over Milton, Ontario
Date: July 9, 2010
Time: 11:50 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Milton Ontario.
Number of witnesses: 6
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Round.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: My husband and I were sitting on the porch
when we both looked up and saw a silent orange moving object in the sky. It
actually looked like a ball of fire coming towards us. This orange object was
in clear view in front of our home, so I ran into the house to get the camera,
but by the time I came back the object was a speck in the sky because it moved
way too quickly. I was able to get a picture, but unfortunately from a distance.
Our neighbor witnessed the same thing.
6 To 7 Orange Lights Over Cleveland, Ohio
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:30 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Cleveland Ohio.
Number of witnesses: 4
Number of Objects: 6 or 7.
Shape of Objects: Circular.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: First let me say that I really don't believe
in alien life forms or alien spacecraft, however last night was very strange.
Myself along with my wife, brother and mother-in-law were swimming and having
a camp fire in the backyard of a Avon residence, when out of no where 6 to 7
orange lights appeared northeast of our location. The lights where not moving
and appeared to be stationary.
They also appeared to be off a long way in the distance and I would have to
say at a high altitude. The lights at one point appeared to be in a vertical
pattern and seemed to hover for a couple minutes. The lights then just went
off. We watched the sky for awhile, but nothing returned. If I had to guess
these strange lights were somewhere out over Lake Erie.
At first I thought maybe it was flares being sent up for a boat in distress,
however the lights did not appear to ascend nor descend at any time. The objects
just appeared and disappeared. I also checked the local law enforcement agencies
and Coast Guard however found no other reports. I've never seen anything like
this before and am not sure exactly what it was, but I do have to admit I now
wonder about my previous belief that there are no such thing as UFO's. We only
had cell phones on us and attempted to take pictures, but it was too far away
and too dark.
Brilliant Orange Ball Over Greenwood, Indiana
Date: July 12, 2010
Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.
My son and I were sitting on the patio last night in Greenwood, Indiana (July
12th at about 10 PM) when we noticed what at first appeared to be some sort
of fireworks go straight up into the sky west of us. We expected to see it explode,
but it kept rising and then started to move towards us to the east. As it got
closer to us, it the light appeared to wobble or oscillate slightly from side
to side so we thought it was probably a helicopter with a search light, but
it clearly wasn't a white light as is normal with search lights, as it passed
overhead there was no sound coming from it whatsoever. It was unlike anything
either of us had ever seen. As it passed it grew fainter and fainter and seemed
to gain altitude very quickly and then disappeared.
About 15 minutes later as we were discussing it, we saw another come from the
same spot and it did exactly the same thing as before. We called my daughter
in law out from the house and she saw it too.
It appeared to be a brilliant orange ball almost like a fireball, but it did
not appear to be a meteor as we have seen them before and it wasn't trailing
any sparks nor was it going very fast.
Strange to say the least.
100 Plus Round Orange Lights Seen Over London, UK (Excellent
Video Footage)
Date: July 9, 2010
Time: Between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m.
Location of Sighting: London.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 100+
Shape of Objects: Round/spherical.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: Hi Brian, me and my wife have witnessed
what we would call a UFO sighting over London last night (9 July 2010), just
thought you would be interested.
It happened approximately between 10:30pm and 11:00pm, there were loads of them
(maybe about a hundred in total or more) coming from southwest flying over London
and disappearing to the northeast for about 30mn in total.
They looked like orange lights flying fast and high, we thought it could be
balloons or Chinese lanterns, but there wasn't a strong wind that night to explain
their speed and directions: They seemed to go high first on the South West,
some looking like dancing with each other, and then crossing straight over London
to the northeast at fast speed.
We caught it on camcorder and have still to process it, let us know if you would
be interested in seeing the video.
I suppose we will know more about this today in the news, as we are probably
not the only ones to have witnessed that.
Best Regards.

6 To 7 Orange Lights Over Waterdown, Ontario
Date: July 9, 2010
Time: Evening.
We also seen 6 to 7 lights in the sky, there was no noise which was weird, they
flew from east heading west. Then they made a sudden turn and were heading south
towards the Lake Ontario. The last light was quiet far behind, but seemed brighter
and yes, they were orange colour. They all seemed to either burn out or seemed
to disappear. I told the wife this morning and she did not believe the story.
This was very freaky.
Orange Fiery Glows South Of New Lenox, Illinois
Date: July 10, 2010
Time: Approx: 8:50 p.m.
Hello, I saw similar thing tonight and Googled it. Thought I'd tell you about
it.
Approximately 8:50pm, I saw the first orange, almost fiery glow coming from
West over neighbors house. Lasted almost a minute to minute and a half. Moved
East at high altitude and curved slightly south and disappeared slowly, more
like i was just losing sight of it. Two more followed in suit shortly after
first faded. Second was not out of sight before third came over neighbors house
in same manner and direction.
All three moved at similar speed, height and trajectory. slightly curving off
to the south and fading. Almost looked like increased in altitude also when
faded away.
The third object had below it in sight a distinct high altitude airplane moving
in opposite direction with the obvious blinking lights. This did not look like
an airplane. If I had to guess it would be a satellite or other space object
reflecting the setting sun. Could be satellites in same course.
Also, the night before, while sitting at an ice cream parlor in Palos Hills
we saw in the dusk sky and object move directly over East to West. it was clearly
light out between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Nothing unusual. I just thought it was the
international space station or other object.
Pretty cool either way.
Orange Glow Over Hawthorn Woods Northwest Of Chicago
Date: July 4, 2010
Time: Evening.
I was in Hawthorn Woods, northwest of Chicago on July 4th and our party witnessed
a slow moving orange glow move from south to north. It made no noise and had
no blinking lights as the many aircraft that fly directly over this area from
O'Hare do. It moved very slowly northward and was in sight for about ten minutes
until it faded away in the distance. it looked unlike any thing that I have
ever seen.

Addendum / From Plague of the Chinese Laterns / Sightings.com
Update: The Plague Continues...
Even eyes familiar with common aerial craft are being mesmerized and perplexed by the Chinese Lanterns, as this recent report reveals:
Lights Spark More UFO Claims
4:55pm Wednesday 16th June 2010
The Gazette reported last week how UFO-sceptic John Tarrier saw unidentified
flying objects over Jaywick. Three days later, Sue Alderton also had a close
encounter.
She went into the garden of her house in Havering Close, Clacton, at 10pm.
“I noticed three bright orange, glowing, lights to the west – quite
big in size," she said.
“They just appeared and were travelling from east to west. They were quite
high up and seemed to be travelling fairly fast.
“My husband also witnessed this."
Chinese lanterns are often mistaken for UFOs as they float into the sky. But
Sue insisted: “There is no way these were Chinese lanterns.” Brenda
Scragg has also seen strange lights over her Clacton home more than once.
“There were three lights like a helicopter’s flying in formation.
“I’m not a UFO-type of person and I used to be in the RAF, so I
know it wasn’t a helicopter. I thought it was really strange because there
was no noise.”
There were more reports on Saturday night, but Tracey White, of Purley Way,
said she has the explanation.
“My 16-year-old daughter, Natasha, was at a party down by the airfield
and they were letting off Chinese lanterns.”

Original Article:
It seems the UK is undergoing the most phenomenal UFO flap of
all time, with one particular species of ET traveling in bright orange, fiery,
glowing globes. Invasion? Not quite. Unless you consider an invasion of Chinese
Lanterns the "...vanguard of an invading army from the planet Mars..."
to quote H.G. Welles' War of the Worlds.
Report after report comes in, to UFO reporting stations (including here at Sightings.com
as you have seen) and police houses and news rooms, people are seeing strange
orange orbs in the sky, usually at night, some performing what they believe
to be impossible aerial acrobatics. One witness noted that he knew what he saw
was not a Chinese Lantern because it moved opposite of the wind direction, apparently
completely unaware of the fact that air currents can and do run in absolutely
opposing directions at various heights. Just because the wind is blowing SE
where one is on the ground, doesn't mean a thing 4000 feet up. It could be churning
in the opposite direction entirely. It is one of the grand elements involved
in inclement weather conditions and the reason why small aircraft have to be
keenly aware of changing air conditions.
Lanterns caught in small vortexes appear to spin wildly, and encountering wind
sheer they can appear to plummet at incredible speeds seemingly "not of
this world" or "any known aircraft." Add to that the illusion
of distance and height, and judging that distance/height, as well as the size
of the brightly illuminated decorative gone-awry, can be extremely tricky and
provide for some horrendously distorted reports. Some have come in with people
believing they are seeing something several hundred feet wide and five miles
away, when it's really only a few feet in diameter and relatively close by.
When strung together they can quite often appear to be the multiple lights of
one single, enormous craft.
So, the plague of the Chinese Lanterns, apparently extremely popular in the
British isles, either for legitimate parties or sent aloft by giggling teens
having a good larf on all the "UFO nuts," continues on. It's doubtful
the supply of these paper and hot-air propelled sky-torches will run out any
time soon.
Until then, the report headline of "Bright orange light..." will stack
up like pancakes. And no doubt interspersed among them will be the occasional
other-worldly craft which just happens to be orange and just happens to flicker
or pulse with light. Good luck discerning between them!
