Bright White Circular Object Over Costa Mesa California

Full Description of Event/Sighting: While traveling south on Newport Blvd. at 18th Street in Costa Mesa, California, we saw straight ahead a bright white circular object rapidly fall from about 30 degrees above the horizon to a point approximately 3.8 degrees to the west on the horizon. The fall lasted approximately one second. The path was an arc, somewhat as one would expect a falling meteor to take. The light suddenly appeared and stayed consistently bright until it reached the horizon. I believe it was far enough away to have fallen into the Pacific ocean which was at least a mile away. The diameter of the circle was approximately 0.12 degrees. The round appearance in the dark was as if an airplane landing light were aimed directly at us. There was no sound..
