Hello, just recently, 20/03/2010 - 22:10hrs with my partner we have seen something similar to what you described here: Ball Of Golden Light Over The Thames Estuary Leigh On Sea UK. We live on the outskirts of Glasgow and the object was moving southwards in a straight line. It was getting smaller and smaller before disappearing altogether. It was a golden blob of light. I'm more inclined to say it was a comet or a rock passing nearby the earth, than UFO, but than again, I have not found anything online about it so far (I did find your blog though, surprisingly) so unless it is identified it is UFO ;-)
